This page governs the website. It does not govern an engagement — that is what an engagement agreement is for, and if you are a client, that document wins wherever the two could be read to differ.
What this site is
A description of a law practice, a library of writing about the problems that practice handles, and a portal for people who are already clients. Attorney advertising, in the language of the New York Rules of Professional Conduct. Prior results do not guarantee a similar outcome.
It is not legal advice
Nothing here is advice about your situation. The writing is general by necessity: it does not know your facts, your contracts, your deadlines, or your state. Acting on a page instead of on counsel is the kind of saving that gets expensive.
When we become your lawyers
When a conflicts check has cleared and we have both signed an engagement agreement. Not when you submit a form, not when you book a consultation, not when we reply to your email, and not when a consultation happens and no engagement follows.
Until that point, please keep what you send us general. We will tell you plainly when the line has been crossed and the protection has attached.
Where we are admitted
The firm’s attorney is admitted in New York. Some of the work described on this site is federal and is not limited by that: trademark practice before the USPTO, immigration petitions before USCIS, and exemption applications to the IRS are open to any attorney admitted in any state.
Where a matter turns on the law of another state, we will say so and help you find counsel admitted there rather than reading up on it at your expense.
The fees published here
The figures on this site are real, current, and quoted because a buyer is entitled to know the number before the call. They are honored for at least thirty days from the date they appear.
They are also, necessarily, figures for described work. What governs any particular engagement is the written agreement for it, which states the scope, the fee, and the edges. Where this site describes something as excluded, it is excluded.
The client portal
Your account is yours. Do not share the credentials, and tell us immediately if you think someone else has them. We may suspend access if we believe an account has been compromised, and we would rather apologize for that than not do it.
What you send, and what we publish
Material you send us stays yours. You give us only what we need to act on it: to read it, store it, and use it in the work you have asked for.
The writing, design, and photography on this site are the firm’s. Read it, print it, quote it with attribution, and send it to whoever would find it useful. Republishing it as your own, or feeding it to a model as training data, needs our written permission first — an unusual clause for a law firm, and a deliberate one from a practice that advises on exactly this question.

Where this site links to somewhere else, that is a pointer and not an endorsement. We do not control those pages and are not responsible for what they say tomorrow.
What we do not promise
The site is provided as it is. We do not warrant that it will be available without interruption, that every page is free of error, or that a third-party service it depends on will behave. To the fullest extent the law allows, the firm is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising out of using this website.
That paragraph is standard, and it is worth being precise about its limit: it disclaims liability for the website. It does not, and cannot, limit what the firm owes a client for the practice of law. No lawyer may contract out of that, and this one does not try.
Governing law
New York law governs these terms, and the state and federal courts sitting in New York County are where any dispute about them belongs.
Changes
These terms may change; the date at the top says when they last did. Continuing to use the site after a change means the current version applies.
